What the day involves
The trip runs south from Diani by road to the Shimoni area, then out by boat. Dolphin spotting happens in the channel on the way, snorkelling takes place inside Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park, and lunch is a traditional Swahili seafood meal on Wasini Island itself.
Snorkelling gear and a safety briefing are included, and guides stay with the group in the water — it works for first-time snorkellers as well as confident swimmers.
What the premium day includes
- Premium — adds a sandbank stop, Shimoni Caves, the Coral Garden and a guided walk through Wasini Village, plus breakfast alongside lunch, with return transfers from Diani.
Snorkelling inside a marine park
Kisite-Mpunguti is a protected marine park, which is the reason the snorkelling here is worth the drive rather than being something you could do off the beach. Because it is protected, boat and permit availability is limited, so the trip is arranged 24 to 48 hours ahead rather than on the day.
What to know before booking
- Expect an early start — this is a full day, including road time in each direction.
- Dolphins are wild animals in the channel. Sightings are common but never guaranteed.
- Bring sun protection, a hat, water and something dry to change into.
- Book 24 to 48 hours ahead so boat space and marine park access can be confirmed.
